Number 7 is considered universally lucky in Western cultures: seven days in a week, seven wonders of the world, seven notes in a musical scale. In Chinese culture, 8 is the luckiest number because it sounds like the word for prosperity, while 4 is strongly avoided because it sounds like the word for death. Worked Example: John Smith, March 14, 1990
- Destiny number: J1 + O6 + H8 + N5 + S1 + M4 + I9 + T2 + H8 = 44, and 4 + 4 = 8.
- Soul urge (vowels only): O6 + I9 = 15, and 1 + 5 = 6.
- Personality (consonants only): 44 minus 15 = 29, and 2 + 9 = 11, a master number, so it stays 11.
- Life path: month 3, day 14 becomes 1 + 4 = 5, year 1990 becomes 19, then 10, then 1. 3 + 5 + 1 = 9.
Why two sites can give different life paths
This calculator reduces the month, day and year separately and then adds them. Some sites add every digit of the date at once. Usually the answer is the same, but not always: for January 5, 1960 this page gives 1 + 5 + 7 = 13, so 4, while adding all digits gives 1 + 5 + 1 + 9 + 6 + 0 = 22, a master number. We checked every birthday from 1960 to 2009 and the two methods disagree on about 13% of them. Neither is more "correct"; numerology has no single standard.
How Your Lucky Numbers Are Made
Your 12 personal lucky numbers start with your core numbers, add their pairwise sums, one number from your birth day and one from your birth month (when you enter a birthday), then fill the list from a fixed pattern based on your life path and destiny numbers, all between 1 and 59. The same name and date always give the same 12 numbers.
The lottery pick is different: each click shuffles your 12 numbers with Math.random and shows 6 of them, so it changes every time and is not tied to today's date. Any set of numbers has the same odds in a real draw:
